Class Description

Tune in to Radio Hour with CYT! Dive into character voices in the style of Reader's Theater. Learn how to manipulate your speaking voice to convey different characters and emotions and tell a story without the audience ever seeing your face. Explore different techniques to change your voice across a diverse array of characters, perhaps even animals! This class is especially useful for those students seeking to one day do voice over work for radio, television, or movies. At the end of 8 weeks, parents can listen in to a virtual showcase!

Joseph Smith

Joe's first experience with theater was watching his sister’s performance in CYT Denver’s first production You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown, and instantly fell in love with theater. Joe began his transition from Baseball to the stage. Joe continued to perform in multiple productions in CYT, Highschool, and other professional theater companies. Joe attended MSU for Theater, where he began to dive deeper into the comedy form on “improv”. Joe performed with teams, and other improvers in Comedy Clubs such as the Wynkoop Theater, 17th Ave Theater, VooDoo Comedy Club as well as multiple company events and charities. Performing improv Joe started to focus on methods and techniques on character development and scene work. Joe was honored and blessed to not only be asked to be a teacher at CYT Front Range, but was also asked to direct his first show with CYT Front Range.
